How To Put On the Whole Armor of God : 7 Steps To Take Daily

put on the whole armor of God

Don’t Leave Home Without it, You’ve Got a Target On Your Back

Part of reaching your full potential In Christ and living the life God intended you to live, is putting on the whole armor of God, utilizing all of the tools at our disposal, and understanding the power and authority we have In Christ. When we have faith in Jesus, we can begin moving confidently towards our goals, pressing forward towards our mark, and believing that With God All Things Are Possible.

Spiritual Warfare: Suiting Up and Standing Firm

Ephesians 6:10-18

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Our Strength comes from being  In The Lord  and this gives us access to His Mighty Power. When we remain in Him, and He In Us, The Spirit at Work in us is able to do exceedingly more than we could ever think or ask. We are then reminded that in every believer and non-believer’s life the devil has schemes to steal, kill and destroy all the Good God has planned for our lives, and that we must be on guard and suited up!

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Now we begin to see the full scope of this battle, one that transcends the physical, and it first glance could seem rather intimidating, if it had not been for what Jesus did at the Cross. With this definitive blow, Satan and his evil forces were made a public spectacle, utterly defeated, our debts were fully paid by His Blood, and Sin and The Power of Death no longer have a hold on us.

Having our Victory in Christ doesn’t mean the fight is over, daily we face temptations and battles for our attention and our love. That is why we must make putting on the full Armor of God a daily habit reinforced over time.

The Armor of God

The full Armor Of God

Each Element In The Armor Works Together, Like Holy Spirit Synergy

13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

We may have heard that before in church or we may have even read it before in our studies, but how many of us actually do what it says to do. There seems to be an emphasis on the FULL armor of God, as any piece you neglect, leaves you open and vulnerable to attacks. We will also see that there is a synergy at work with each element of the armor, and that when combined together, the total is greater than the sum of its parts.

1. Put On Your Belt of Truth

The Spirit of Truth which lives in you and reveals to you all things will Guard Your From Deception and The Father Of Lies. Daily we are bombarded with lies that we will find satisfaction in power, money, materialism, or pleasure, and our belt of truth guards us from seeking these out. We are firmly rooted in the belief that Jesus is the Way, The Truth, and The Life and build the rest of our lives on this foundation.

2. Secure The Breastplate of Righteousness

Our Righteousness does not come from our “good works” rather it comes from Christ, and the fact that we are Justified by the Cross, and that His Righteousness is credited to us. Traditionally the breastplate protects the heart and lungs in battle. We must not lose heart in this battle, and we must approach life as a marathon, not a sprint.

3. Fit Your Feet With The Shoes of The Gospel of Peace

Our readiness in Battle comes from The Peace of God, not the peace the world offers.  This Peace surpasses all understanding and will guard our hearts and minds, providing evidence for the links between the different armor elements and the synergy that comes from wearing the whole armor.

4. Take Up The Shield of Faith

The fiery arrows of Doubt from the Evil one are coming at you from all directions, and the only thing that can quench all of them is your Faith in God. His Power and Ability to Protect, Provide, and Care For His Children is far greater than the power at work in the world. Without this life-giving Faith, we are walking around with a massive target on our backs, and if you find yourself crippled with doubt, this may be the most important piece of the armor for you.

5. Put On The Helmet Of Salvation

The helmet is designed to protect the head, the center of our thoughts, imaginations, and planning. If we let the Mind of Christ Be In Us, and We Let The Truth of His Salvation Set Us Free, then we can obtain victory over the temptations of the flesh, temptations of the eyes, and the pride of life. When we pray for His Will to be done, our own selfish plans begin to take a back seat, and the Good Plans he has for us begin to naturally unfold in our lives.

6. Wield The Sword Of The Spirit

All of the of the other elements in this set of armor are defensive in nature, but The Sword Of The Spirit is Our Main Offensive weapon and it is powerful beyond measure. It says the Word of God is Alive and Active, and that it sharper than any double-edged sword, able to cut so deep that it can even divide Soul from the Spirit. When the Devil tempted Jesus during his trials in the desert, every time he was able to use the Word Of God as his counter. He patterned this for us, so that when the Evil One comes against us, we are not left unaware or without plan. The more time we spend with the Word, the better we become at wielding the sword, like Holy Spirit Samurais.

 7. Pray in The Spirit, Through Christ, To The Father

Prayer is not something we should use sparingly or for special occasions. We need to begin to pray in The Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. The Language is clear here, ” Always “ keep on praying for “All the Lord’s People”. The Lord knows our heart before we ever begin, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want you to reach out to him and give a voice to your prayers.  God  moves in powerful ways when we begin to pray for one another and and become Alert and aware of the needs of those around us.

Here is your chance to stand up and become an On Fire, Prayer Warrior Who Is Used By God To Strengthen , Uplift, and Encourage those who God brings in your path.

We are Sojourners here on this planet, Ambassadors for Christ, and Yet We Have  Not Been Left Orphaned. We have the Spirit of The Living God Who Dwells in Us, Comforting Us, Sustaining Us, and Leading Us Unto All Truth. Let’s Go Forth, Equipped With The Whole Armor of God, Unashamed of The Good News, and ready To Share God’s Love With Those He brings into our lives.

  1. Is the graphic of the soldier with the armor of God in words something you created? I really like it and would like to ask permission to use it.

  2. Good Morning! I came across the image of the full armor of God and would love to know if this is in a decal form? I’d like to place it on my mirror in my home to remember daily, and on my car to encourage others.

    • Hi Jodi!

I’m not sure if it is in decal form, but you can place the image in Google Images to find it, and then see if there are any .png files ( no background ) and print the decal that way. I think its great you want to encourage others while travelling and hopefully God leads you to be able to get that for your car. Thanks again for visiting the site and hope your walk with God continues to strengthen you and others around you.

  3. Brandon thank you for your inspiration. I recently started making a small business out of my home doing t-shirts and other things. The name my husband and I have chosen is “Transformation Creations”. We chose this name because we love making things new and taking old things and giving them a new purpose. I have been praying and asking God for directions. We are very active in our church and community. As an example of my prayer this past Wednesday night. Dear Lord I want to start a new chapter in my life and be able to be used, be of better service to you and for you. I offer myself, my heart and my hands to touch and encourage your people and the world. If is your will for me to stay at home and work please show and bless me. Well yesterday i got a phone call from a pastor of another church. He and his wife have a small church they asked if I could make some Vacation Bible School Shirts for their church. I asked them what design they wanted for the shirts. They sent the picture of your design for the Armor of God. I hung up the phone and praised my Lord for answering my prayer. Brandon would it be possible to get your permission to use your design with my t-shirts and business.

    • @Mellisa That is an incredible testimony and I’m glad God is opening new doors for you to be of service. My apologies for the delayed reply, God has had me focused on other areas, specifically serving as a part time pastor at our church here in Bali, Indonesia, which has been a blessing.

You can find the graphic here https://id.pinterest.com/pin/240801911302268622/ and I would reach out to them for permission as this is not my graphic to give permission for. I do think its cool, and I hope it can be used to empower an new generation of God’s warriors equipped with the full Armor of God for every good work that He has prepared for us to do, for His Glory.

If you have any other questions please let me know. May Jesus bless your ministry.
